On October 20, 2025, second-year students in Yaşar University's New Media and Communication Department viewed an exhibition of design students and artists at the Bıçakçı Han, affiliated with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, as part of the "Basic Design for Digital Media" course taught by Hi Journey founder Dr. Hasan Işıklı. Through the lens of new media, they analyzed the central idea, socio-political context, and the personal impact of a selected work.

The Bıçakçı Han, the exhibition space, is a cultural heritage piece reflecting Izmir's port history and Basmane's significant role in the city's trade and transportation. Recently acquired and restored by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, it hosts contemporary art events. The Good Design Izmir event also served as a workshop space and was easily accessible from the Basmane train station and metro station. While Basmane is known as a complex place in collective memory, it stands on Gazi Street, next to the former Yıldız Cinema, just past the train station, designed by the Gustave Eiffel company in the 19th century and considered the beginning of the old Muslim neighborhood opposite the station, the Çorakkapı Mosque. The 10th-anniversary retrospective exhibition of İyi Tasarım İzmir in one of the buildings in Bıçakçı Han also provides insight into the impact of the design activity, which has developed its own memory over time through its interaction with the city.
